Science in Motion offers a gentle invitation to slow down and find balance. We will explore the aspects of our Mind, Body and Soul as we weave the science of yoga, therapeutic sound, and mindful movement with soothing meditation, reflective conversation, and simple practices that open new insights into your well‑being. Rooted in both evidence and heart-led embodiment, the retreat creates a nurturing space for pause, deepening, and quiet transformation you can carry home.

Day 1 - Friday

We explore the Mind as you begin your transformative journey. You'll arrive and settle in with an opening circle discussion to help set your retreat intentions. This is followed by a nourishing Long Table Dinner to ease you into the retreat atmosphere.  As your day ends you'll calm your mind with an evening ritual and sound bath experience.

Day 2 - Saturday

We connect with the Body as we move through yoga and somatic techniques. Feel how each individual cell and your whole core is impacted by morning meditation and afternoon Nature therapy. You'll explore living in embodiment finding the balance between movement and relaxation. Experience evening stillness as your nervous system is soothed by the vibration of crystal bowls and gongs. There will also be ample time for time for self-discovery and rest.

Day 3 - Sunday

We nourish the Soul as integration and grounding and is at the heart of our final day. We'll have a last meditation and movement session, followed by a closing ceremony and farewell lunch. Your retreat is completed with an opportunity to experience guided sauna and cold plunge contrast therapy.

Accommodations

Nestled on the picturesque Galiano Island, Bodega Ridge offers a stunning retreat setting for our Ritual + Science experience. This serene location boasts breathtaking views of the Trincomali Channel and the surrounding Gulf Islands, providing the perfect backdrop for reflection and rejuvenation.

Bodega Ridge Cabins: Have 3 bedrooms/ 1.5 bathrooms with sweeping coastal views and cozy log cabin vibes. They are located within walking distance of the main lodge and retreat spaces.

Bodega Cove Cabins: Have 1 or 2 bedrooms/1 bathrooms, are recently renovated and feature modern Westcoast interiors and a seaside location. These cabins are located a 5-minute drive from the main Ridge where our retreat takes place.

All cabins have wood-burning fireplaces, a kitchen and living room.

Meet Dr. Alex

As a licensed Naturopathic Physician Dr. Alex Chan brings a wealth of expertise in medicine and holistic healing to Science in Motion. With years of experience as a senior practitioner at Integrative Naturopathic Medical Centre, Dr. Alex has developed a deep understanding of the intricate connections between physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Dr. Alex approaches each person individually and deeply believes that there is no universal approach to wellness. She has seen that moving beyond the treatment room and into the retreat setting allows for deeper nervous system relaxation that opens the potential for healing insight. She emphasizes the importance of understanding each person's unique health goals and values, allowing her to create personalized strategies that support their path to wellness.

Meet Farhad

As a sound healer and senior yoga teacher (E‑RYT 500, 10,000+ hours), breathwork practitioner, meditation guide, and life coach, Farhad brings over two decades of devoted study and facilitation to Science in Motion.

Since founding a Yoga & Wellness Studio in North Vancouver in 2007, he has trained with master teachers from ashrams in India to studios across North America and Europe, developing a nuanced, experiential approach to wellbeing. Through his work at Farhad Khan Sound he leads immersive local and international retreats that prioritize nervous-system regulation, clarity, and authentic connection. His mastery of crystal alchemy bowls, gongs, handpan, and chimes creates transformative sonic environments that support emotional release and spiritual reconnection. What sets Farhad apart is not only his technical expertise but the quality of presence he brings to each space.

Having navigated anxiety and depression personally, he teaches from lived wisdom and compassionate understanding, believing transformation is remembrance rather than performance. He approaches every person individually, shaping the emotional rhythm of each retreat so participants feel grounded, expanded, and deeply supported—held in a space where insight and healing can arise naturally.
